We are headed to Chicago and our first stop is the Chicago Board of Trade Building, an architectural Art Deco landmark and home to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and Chicago Board of Trade. You will be given a basic overview of the market and have a bird’s eye view of Open Outcry trading from the viewing gallery. Watch as the traders stand elbow to elbow in the trading pit, shouting out the number of contracts and prices they wish to buy or sell while simultaneously using hands signals to convey the same information.
Enjoy some free time for lunch at Navy Pier, the Midwest’s #1 tourist and leisure destination.
After lunch we will tour the Federal Reserve Bank, one of 12 regional Reserve Banks across the United States that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., as the central bank for the United States. We’ll take a fascinating tour and spend some time in the Money Museum. You will view a cube filled with a million dollars and a suitcase filled with a million, in one hundred dollar bills. They’ll even give you a bag of money to take home, shredded of course.

For our last day, we’ll take a guided tour of Cuyahoga National Park. A stop at Brandywine Falls for some spectacular views of the 60-foot waterfall! Then, a train ride aboard the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad to enjoy the natural beauty of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. You will be able to immerse yourself in the stories and sounds of the Cuyahoga Valley through the voices of the Valley audio tour. Once you put on your headset, you’ll hear tales about the earliest settlement of the valley, the coming of the Ohio & Erie Canal and Valley Railway, the creation of Cuyahoga Valley National Park and more. The audio tour will play automatically using GPS technology as the train passes through the valley. Our train departs from the Akron Northside Station headed to the Canal Visitor Center. This canal-era structure and its associated lock will give us a glimpse into the past. Feel the white oak of the whaler gates, marvel at the workings of a canal lock, and explore the exhibits that take you on a journey over 10,000 years in the making. Our next stop aboard the train is the historic Village of Peninsula to enjoy the quaint shops. We then board our coach for the ride home with memories of three fun filled days in Ohio.

Circus City Festival Peru, Indiana

Each year approximately 250 young people, ages 7-21, and a team of adult volunteers
present 10 performances during the eight-day Circus City Festival in mid July.
The last day of the Festival (July 21st) features a Circus Parade, complete with horse drawn circus wagons, circus animals, clowns, and calliopes. This is the longest running Circus Parade in the United States.
We have bleacher seating for the parade, which will last about 2 hours.
After the parade, there is time to visit other attractions. There is a carnival in town, with rides and many food options.
We will be attending the afternoon performance of the Circus, held in the air conditioned American Trust Circus City Center. The Circus City Museum is located in the same building and admission is free.
You will be amazed at the abilities of these young adults. They have performed in many U.S. states and have traveled to Monte Carlo for the international circus competition, “Premiere Rampe.” Acts include Flying Trapeze, Multiple Trapeze, Aerial Ballet, High Wire, Juggling, Balancing Bike, Clowns, and many other circus acts.
